This piece started in August 2021, hiking with Emma in Exmoor national park, Devon. It’s a landscape of moorland, woodland and coast beyond words. Feeling. We entered an ecstatic eco-joy trip as we explored different states, new and old, ancestral ones. The borders of my body expanded outwards with the joy of my beautiful friend, into giggly fluid realms. We recorded different moments of sitting and singing, and improvised on an old church piano. Later on I came back and started to dig through, chop and manipulate these recordings into a story, a memory and music.

There are feelings of ecological grief, intimacy, nostalgia and hope in the piece. I want to embrace pain and create joy in the forward motion of the procession. It is a procession we walk in! We burn signing and dancing, in friendship, together.
